Nearly two years ago, I took that video of Branch and Wynnie riding their scooters together—the video had iPhone’s “loop” feature, and it’s still eery and sad and beautiful to watch this clip on repeat.
~Two weeks from now (who knows!) Lauren will give birth to our third child. Having our third is another thing that seems eery and sad and beautiful all at once. And similar to the clip above…life is disappearing.
Yet it progresses! A constant mental battle of losing our past to gain a future. I’m beginning to mourn for our days as a family of four, but am so excited to become Family Force 5.
The two kids on those scooters don’t know what’s coming for them, and their parents don’t either.
But here we go…any advice? I’ve heard every angle on the “2 kids to 3” spectrum. Some good and some bad, but it’s been fun surveying parents of 3+ kids to get their feedback.
“GOIN’ FROM MAN TO ZONE, HUH?!”
I’ve heard that line a lot. And it’s fun to think about considering 1) March Madness is around the corner and 2) Branch and Wynnie are the most *self-sufficient* they’ve been in their lives. So I plan on a lot of trips to the park(s) and field(s) by our house.
Pray for Lauren. For endurance and courage through labor and rest (when it might come) and patience in the aftermath.
Due date is March 24th, and the magnitude sometimes finds me: two weeks until the rest of our lives.
The last two months have been *particularly* insane given pregnancy, work, and still settling into our new home. Every homeowner was/is correct when they say “There’s always another project to complete…” Which is where we’re at.
Through the chaos, the “Pause App” (screenshot/link above) has been crucial amidst the depletion—long days, sleepless nights, and parenting “fails” regarding discipline (or lack thereof) and giving our kids too much sugar.
If you are also in a similar season of hectic, make room to pause.
Pat was Mic’d up for the Super Bowl. An impressive part of this video is he doesn’t cuss one time.

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

Music: Other than Drake and J-Cole, been enjoying Meditations album by Cory Wong + Jon Batiste at the end of long days. Keith Green during Lent. Caleb Gordon. And excited for the new Vampire Weekend. (I recognize this paragraph as quite the artistic conglomerate).
Food: For Lent, I have gone to one cup of coffee a day—just one cup in the morning during a routine for Lauren and me, and it has been more than sufficient for the day. Before Lent, I was at 3-4 cups a day (well into the afternoon) and since limiting my caffeine intake, my mood has been better and I’m sleeping more peacefully at night.
Podcasts: Rich Roll + Cal Newport.
Reading: I finished Psychology of Money, which is brilliant. Our business is going through GiANT Worldwide. Each of our team members just took the 5 Voices Assessment—reading through my profile has been fascinating, which is linked below.
